The love story, timestamped

Every beat below is a real message from the corpus. The Charlotte thread opens with its own origin story.

Mon May 30, 2011 · 3:48 PM · the first message in the thread
Jon from eHarmony here. Had a great weekend in Dallas with some old friends. Let's definitely meet up this week…

Hey! Glad u had a good time :-) yes thursday would be great.
June 4, 2011, five days in: a 129-message conversation that starts after midnight and wanders into Care Bears.
Sat Jun 4, 2011 · 12:18 AM
…believe it or not, Carebear land was in my very own backyard! :-)
June 8, 2011, nine days in: a 2-hour-56-minute phone call. Still the 4th-longest on record.
Tue May 27, 2014
So the date is set and we're getting married on September 27th! Any chance I could score you as a groomsman?
July 4th weekend, 2014: the contact card quietly flips from “Charlotte Green” to “Charlotte Mick” — 12 weeks before the wedding.

I emailed Gourmet Gals about wedding catering. I will let you know if I get a response. 💜💛💚💙
September 27, 2014: the wedding. Running total since: 30,490 texts and 237 hours of calls, and Jon now replies to her 2.5× faster than during courtship.

Messages per month

Shaded bands are backup gaps, not silence: Feb–Dec 2015 and Oct 2016–Dec 2019 (JON-838) have no known backup source.

When Jon texts: 2010s vs 2020s

Share of each era's sent messages by hour (America/Chicago). The office-era 5 PM spike became a remote-work plateau.

Language drift

Jon's first emoji ever was sent in 2014, the wedding year. And texts got longer, not shorter.

What the photos were of

Shared images classified from their AI descriptions. A family album in the 2010s; a dog cam and a clipboard now. Keyword-based, directional.

Hours on the phone per year

215 hours in 2012, 3.4 in 2021, then a 2025 rebound. Years with no bar (2016–2019, 2023) have no call-log backup.

Top threads by message count

Real conversation threads — a group text counts as one thread, not smeared across every member. Threads unify across name changes. Post-2020 counts for close contacts skew low (RCS chats aren't captured).

Read with these caveats

  • Two backup gaps, not silence: Feb–Dec 2015 (a hole inside the SMS Backup+ Gmail archive) and Oct 2016–Dec 2019 (JON-838). Never read either dip as behavior.
  • RCS undercount: post-2020 per-contact volume for close contacts skews low because RCS “chat” messages aren't captured.
  • The call log has its own holes: nothing for 2016–2019 and 2023.
  • Photo themes are keyword-classified from Claude Vision descriptions. Directional, not exact.
